During the webinar, the speakers shared their diverse perspectives on gender-responsive climate initiatives and their approaches for engaging key actors including investors, government partners and women’s organizations on gender-responsive climate financing. The speakers highlighted the knowledge gap between climate investors and women’s organizations, the barriers in accessing climate funds as well as key entry points within the investor community for gender smart climate investments. The discussion also included innovative partnerships that have led to gender-responsive climate investment and the different platforms for engaging the climate finance actors. The interactive discussion with the speakers ended with a forward-looking message around interventions that could help build stronger partnerships including documentation of good practices, building the capacity of key actors, enhancing accessibility of climate finance for women’s organization and the creation of platforms for stronger collaboration.
The discussion with speakers was followed by an engaging discussion with participants around unpacking some of the key barriers, meaningful engagement of women in climate change adaptation and mitigation through climate finance, engaging the private sector to support rural women entrepreneurs, and achieving the overarching goal of transformative changes for gender equality.
One thing that came out strongly is the value of platforms for multisectoral partnership building and knowledge exchange.
